The first week in Germany

Wow, What a week!! We have had tender mercies from the Lord and are so grateful for them. We know we are loved and that is what matters.

We are in a very empty home right now and wiont be getting our things till probably the end of November. They have loaned us 3 beds a couch and a couple of lounge chairs and a dinning room set. I got some blanket and a few necessities from a place called the Airmans Attic. You can get stuff free there. It is like a mini DI. Our house is beautiful though and I really like it. It is 3 bedrooms 2 1/2 bathrooms and has a back yard. It is a town home On base and brand new. I love the windows!! All the windows have like a garage roll up door on the outside of each window and the actual windows and doors open up like doors and the tops can open up and vent. They are pretty cool looking.

I am meeting a few girls who live on the block and will hopefully make freinds with a few of them. The first few days that we were here were sunny warm and nice. Since then it has been cloudy, rainy and foggy. Imagine coastal weather and that is what it is like. It is Beautiful!! Green hills adn forests everywhere mixed in with Farm land.

Church was nice to go to last week. We missed the first half because our shuttle only goes at a certain time. They are really nice there. I think there is only one other family in Spangdahlem who are LDS. so I will definetly have an opportunity(s) to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I have read a couple of books so far while being here. Our typical day is clean up the house, do indoor stuff and then hopefully make it to one of the many playgrounds around us to play on. We have been going to the library lately to use the internet and to rent Dvd's for the boys and Joseph and I. Life is pretty good though. We are surviving and that is what matters. I had a dream about my dog last night. I really miss her. Hopefully I can come visit and pick her up with the Air Force paying for most of it. I guess I will just keep hoping :). The boys miss their cousins adn are always asking if they are coming over today to play. They are always wanting to go to Grandma and granpa Jarvis' house and up to Donnelly to the Jones' too. We miss you all very much.

Keep the e-mails coming and know I love the gospel, I love being here in Germany and I am excited to start being able to show my pictures on here soon.~

Update of our official first day

So we just got back from housing and toured where we will be living. There are 3 brand new never lived in town homes and we get one of them with a fenced in yard. It is Beautiful and really nice. I have no way of uploading my pictures so I will have to work on that one. So until then you will not get any pictures. We are so excited to be here and it is all kinda crazy. I mis my family and my dog. I really hope we can ship her over soon.

So on the way here from Boise to Chicago I saw brother Flake from the 6th ward and he says hi to the Jones Family. He was traveling on business and it was fun to see a familiar face. From Chicago to Baltimore Bridger fell asleep before take off and I had to wake him when we landed. So overall that was a layed back trip. Joseph met us in Baltimore and we hung out in the airports Gallery where they have a few things for the kids to play n. We were there for a good long 7 hours and then when we got on the plane we ended up sitting in there for 1 1/2 before take off. So we took off around 11:30 or midnight and got into Spangdahlem around 1:15 in the afternoon so it was only about a seven hour flight. The dinner was really good that they served us. They served that about 2am. The boys slept ok. when they started getting fussy Joseph held Bridger and I held gideon. there was some airman who was a friend to a guy I was sitting next to and lets say he had one too many beers. He reeked!!! and all he wanted to do was sit by me and talk about nothing and repeat his questions. He even woke me up. I was glad when he decided to get up and go. Joseph slept through it...Lucky! It was so weird because when we got to Spangdahlem Air Base it was 4:15 in the afternoon and I realized it was only 8:15 in the morning where we were. We are about 8 hours different I believe.

The shuttle ride from Ramsteine AFB to Spangdahlem was about an 1 1/2 long and I was only half awake for that but when I was it was beautiful. everything is very green and the villages that I saw from a distance were really cool looking. They all have the same color roofs adn like a white plaster for siding. Hopefuly I will be able to get our vehicle soon so I can start exploring.

We were up from 1 to 6 this morning making cookies playing, coloring, watching a movie and reading stories before I made the kids go back to bed. Hopefully we will get used to the time change. I look forward to moving into our new towne home tomorrow!! :)

We have made it in Germany!

We arrived in Germany around 1 pm today. It is beautiful! The country side is rolling hills with farm land and vinyards with surrounding forests. There are villages in clusters so you can go for miles just seeing rolling hills of farms and vinyards and not see one house till you come to a little valley with the village all nestled together with usually a Huge old looking church in the center of it with a huge steeple. I will get pictures. My camera is dead so no pics so far. It is fun to be here and reality hit right before landing. We were thinking, "what did we get ourselves into?" Anyway, We are happy and well and extremely tired. I don't think I have slept no more than 5 hours in 3 days. Well Just wanted to let everone know we are ok. Love you all!!

Mud Wasp

I started this post a while before we left to Germany so I guess I should finish it. These are nests for for a mud wasp. We found these all over our home in Donnelly and they are quite interesting. The pods are filled with larva young of the wasp and it is in a shell and then surrounded by paralyzed spiders (crab spiders) a type of jumping spiders so that when the young hatch they will have something to eat. I did some research and found these wasps so fascinating. They are not aggressive unless you are trying to kill them so they are not territorial like their stining cousins. Check out the pics I got off the internet of the nests.
