Getting ready for Pre-school

So I am going to start a little Pre-school for Gideon. Anyone who lives close by is more than welcome to join me. Just give me a call before hand. If you do join me you are more than welcome to teach something if you want. I am planning on doing it on Tuesdays and Thursdays either around 10am in the morning or in the afternoon about 1pm. So I am going to focus...
Tuesdays on Counting, Math and science
Thursdays on ABC's, Reading and History
So it just depends on the day on what we learn.

We are going to start out each school day with the pledge of Allegiance, what the weather is like outside and What's New in the world, (a current event). Then we will move onto the topic for the day. He will also get a 1/2 hour of computer learning games that I have found on the internet that have seem to be helpfull and fun. If any one has suggestions about good learning sights they have been to for a pre-k to first grade. I would be grateful for them.

I also made an Air Force board. We will learn something new about the Air Force each week and help explain to the boys about what is going to happen when Daddy Fly's to Texas for training. On the other side is my Denim board that we will put Daddy's letters on and pictures of our family and him.

I get my current events off of Discovery.com or any other news that is child safe and entertaining. I also want a project for the week. For an example: This week we are going to go out and pick up Garbage. Our "current news article" is about all the garbage that is in the oceans so we might go to a beach and play around and pick up garbage.

I have a different picture for the weather so Gideon can Choose what the weather is like for the day and get's to draw a picture of the weather too and a book about the weather.

A great sight for schooling

They have worksheets and ideas for all grades. Check it out I have printed off quite a few worksheets for Gideon.

The happenings of fall time

Well Saturday we finally butched our rooster and had rooster noodle soup. He didn't give much chicken off of his small body but made some good broth. It was good soup and I even added some zucchini to the soup thanks to my moms idea with her stew and it was really good it thickened up the soup a bit more. So the overall experience was interesting. Joseph killed and skinned the rooster while I gutted. It was very unpleasant and I really have no desire to do that again. :) But at least we have had the experience and so if we ever needed to do that again I would know what to do.
Saturday i pulled weeds and started making things look a bit better around here. In July the weeds crept in and I didn't have time to get rid of them. I think I will do some more of that today. It always feels good looking at a weed free area after you've seen it overtaken with weeds. I also washed the porch and the walls of the house and windows. It looked pretty white after that...Now I just got to keep my boys from throwing dirt onto the porch..Any ideas :)
So I have Jury duty from September 1 through October 31st. I have to call every evening and see if I am on the list to do jury duty the next day. That seems so restrictive. I want to take off and go camping this month. I guess we'll see. I have never done it before so it should be interesting to see how it goes.
I am starting my workouts back up again. Starting tomorrow with a friend. We are going to keep tabs on each other and try to work out a couple days of the week together. You got to have some motivation in these things. I am going to try to loose 15 pounds this fall. I hope I reach my goal. :)
We turned out our pigs into the pasture next to the house. it is pretty funny to watch a pig walking around out there. We are just waiting to get all of the cuts sold then we will butcher them. Our goats get out of every pen. We will have to put extra posts up cause they are always getting out. Silly goats. Our buck goat is pretty funny. Whenever he gets near the kids Akina sicks on him and chases him off. She'll do it on her own now. She's a good dog. Gideon got head butted the other day...lets just say it is time to get rid of him too. :)
it is sure a beautiful sight outside today. There is low fog and it is trickling rain. A very Beautiful morning...very fall like..:( I am not quite ready for the warm weather to be gone but up here it will be gone all too soon. This is my get ready for winter month. WE got to chop wood, get the yard ready for snow, get the winter clothes out and finish enclosing our house. And all of those other HONEY DO"S I have for Joseph before he takes off to wherever he's going.
So that is what has been going on around here. I hope school goes well for all of ya and your fall season is good.

We are officially an Air Force Family

No turning back now. From yesterdays date for 8 years he is in an obligated service to the Air Force but we are only enlisted for 6 and then if we don't continue and we go to war where he is needed then they can have him back until the 8 years is up. The way it is looking at this point (which you never know because really it is in the Lords hands) we will continue on and re enlist at 4 years for another 4 or 6 years.
So Joseph went through MEPS and had all the tests ran on him yesterday and flunked the depth perception test. Interesting huh! but no worries All the jobs we really want are still on the list but he did have to get rid of Aerial gunner and EOD. SERE and pararescue and other jobs are still offered. So his final 5 that will go into processing for enlisting are
Security Forces
Weatherman
helicopter Maintenance
Vehicle Maintenance
Medical Services
So They are going through the process and mid September we will be given a job and a date. They only give out dates and jobs 1 X per month. We are pretty confident that we will get Security Forces but we shall see. Joseph is also thinking about after September 22 that was the availability date he gave them he is thinking about putting in a job draw so if someone gets hurt or drops out of the job he wants then they can ship him off to training before his actual date. The sooner the better, yet I can't imagine my life going months with out seeing him. But We will do it with the Lords help :) But we shall see and know more in mid September. When he does go to basic he will go to Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio Texas. That lasts 8 weeks then he has graduation and then off to tech school which I think is at the same place for Security Forces but all of these answers will have to wait a few more weeks.
So that is the update thus far~

My Roots

I'm in a reflective mood last night~ As I got the kids in bed I looked out into my parents field to see that some men came to bale up the hay. I also noticed a woman holding a young child wrapped in a blanket get out of the truck and get into one of the tractors. I had to smile to myself at this point knowing I was doing the same thing a couple of days ago. It did my heart good to see that, and the joys of working on a farm with my husband and children bring to me.
Joseph is staying in a motel tonight..we've been fighting and I kicked him out....Just kidding :) He has to stay in a motel due to liability for MEPS. If you were going on your own and you don't make the sign up due to a car accident being your own fault then you are automatically disqualified from enlisting into the armed Forces. But if you take a van with other recruits then if the van gets in an accident it is not your fault and you are pardoned and can enlist at a further date...yeah i know strict and complicated. But he gets his meals paid for last night and today.
Joseph officially becomes a member of the Armed Forces in the Air Force today..if all the tests go well that is. Today he has his physical and medical tests and all the paper work that goes with it. He is then sworn in for in active duty until he goes to basic then they swear him in as active duty right before they get on the plane. So hopefully we learn of all the nitty gritty details today so we can become better informed. At this point Joseph and I feel that Security Forces is where we are supposed to be right now or whatever top five that are on our list. You give them a list of 5 possible jobs in the order of preference. So hopefully he can sign the contract under Security Forces today. The list goes as follows:
1) Security Forces
2) EOD (explosive ordinance Disposal) BOMB SQUAD
3) Aerial Gunner
4) Weatherman
5) helicopter mechanic

So we shall see by the end of the day when i can hear from Joseph. We do not know at this point when everything will take place but we expect it to not all start for at least a few months.
Our lives are about to change. We are excited, nervous and looking forward to knowing more about our future and taking part in the Adventure that lies ahead.

As I reflected last night on Farm work I know no matter where we travel to or what we do in the military, when we are done I hope to live on a farm with my family and live that life that has brought me so much Joy through the years.
I am excited for our new journey and hope I never loose sight of the things I love most. My love, my Family, the Gospel of Jesus Christ and living life to the fullest.

I love nature!

Going into town this evening I saw 2 mule deer, A young buck and Doe, a mouse, a fox, a raccoon, and a toad cross the street and then coming in I heard coyotes in the pasture. I see the bald Eagle on a daily basis swooping down catching fish on the pond and perching in the dead tree the hovers over the pond. I love it up here especially when it comes to the animals that you are able to see up here. Fun Fun!!

Popcorn

SO I have really been enjoying making popcorn a lot lately. I make it on the stove and will never go back to air popped. This way taste so much better.

You cover the bottom of a pan with oil and then you put popcorn in covering the bottom as well. You cover pan leaving a little bit open to vent and it's starts popping and you dump it out a little at a time until it is done popping and dash a little salt and YUMMY!!! It is the best way to make pop corn and it tastes like your at the movies. Eat up! :)

Star Gazing!

So after our drive last night the fire in the fire pit was still going so Joseph and i got some blankets and hung out on the grass star gazing. We saw like 7 shooting stars. We haven't star gazed since we were dating, Sad huh! Anyway, we were able to talk things through about the air force and life and it was a nice time together. At church they talked about balance in our lives and how that is so needed in our lives. We are quite tipsy some times. So it was nice to take time out for our selves and talk and have fun together.
Today has been one of those anxiety days where you have made so many bad decisions and you just feel stuck sometimes. Hopefully we will learn from our mistakes and stop making stupid decisions. We at least know what we're doing with the Air Force is right. That's a comfort in itself. It is so like me to have a great day one day and a bad day the next. I am thinking it is those wicked female hormones coming out of me. It's like you get too much bliss and "boom" it overloads your system and you just want to cry and those evil sadness hormones come out ruining your good day of bliss from the day before....Darn those mind boggling ways of the female. :) Anyway, we are still here and kick'n. I hope you all are doing well. Joseph goes through MEPS on Thursday. Wish him luck.

My Grandpa Haskett's Truck

So my mom has my grandpa's Truck now and they brought it up to the cabin and since my truck is in the shop I am borrowing it for the weekend. It is a 72 GMC Truck. I have great memories going fishing like 5:00am in his truck. Those were some great times with my Grandpa. This evening we had a little campfire with the boys and roasted mallows and played outside and around 7pm we decided to go for a sunday evening drive up into the mountain. We went all the way back to the base of Jug handle mountain and we plan to take the Four wheeler and motorcycle back to see where some of the trails go (any one with bikes more than welcome to come play.) It looks like some fun playing and BEAUTIFUL trails up there. So Joseph and I started reminiscing about his 62 chevy. The bench seat the granny gear the sounds changing gears makes. Driving my grandpa's truck reminded us about our courting days going for drives, having campfires, snuggling close with the bench seat. It was a very nice evening being together as a family and enjoying a ride in my Grandpa's truck. Thanks mom for letting us borrow it.
Joseph and I are really trying to clear our minds and make sure we sign up for the right thing this week or whenever that will be. It is still a back and forth kinda thing so hopefully tomorrow we can get some answers. We feel great peace and happiness in our lives as well right now despite"lifes"problems. Life is good and being together as a family makes it that much better. Well I hope you all have a good week~ Love Ya!

Getting stuck in the mud

So I did a silly...OK Stupid thing last night. I went out four wheeling with my boys, that's not the stupid thing by the way, and we went back to the lake which is really low and I was riding around it and we were having fun until I attempted to cross a ditch that wasn't just a ditch it was 2 feet of quick mud. Yeah stupid I know! Anyway I spent an hour trying to get it unstuck while I had Gideon pressing the gas for me and Bridger "trying" to be a good sport on the side lines. Yeah so we just got more stuck and finally it was almost dark and I decided to call it quits and walk home with the boys. I made my shirt into a sling, I just took it off and turned it upside down and stuck him in it and wrapped it around my shoulders....Don't worry, I had a tank top under neath and I was the only one on the ranch at the time ;) Gideon didn't complain at all and walked great. We both didn't have any shoes on, his I just didn't put on before our ride and mine were just too muddy that I thought bare foot was better than chaffed skin with the mud and rocks involved.
So this afternoon Joseph went back with me and we "played" in the mud some more and finally got it out. So it is washed up and ready to go for another run ;0) Just not in the lake.

WAHOO!!!

We have officially been accepted into the Air Force and we will make an appointment on Monday for MEPS= The enlisting place and become enlisted into the military. Joseph will also be taking his Physical past test and needs to swim 200 meters non stop. He is going to need your prayers there. We will know more and be enlisted soon. We feel good about being in the Air force and are excited to know more and When and Where of everything. Just thought I would let you all know. Thanks for your prayers in our behalf. We love you all!

The Airman's Creed

This is the Airman's promise to country and colleagues.

I AM AN AMERICAN AIRMAN.
I AM A WARRIOR.
I HAVE ANSWERED MY NATION'S CALL.

I AM AN AMERICAN AIRMAN.
MY MISSION IS TO FLY, FIGHT, AND WIN.
I AM FAITHFUL TO A PROUD HERITAGE,
A TRADITION OF HONOR,
AND A LEGACY OF VALOR.

I AM AN AMERICAN AIRMAN,
GUARDIAN OF FREEDOM AND JUSTICE,
MY NATION'S SWORD AND SHIELD,
ITS SENTRY AND AVENGER.
I DEFEND MY COUNTRY WITH MY LIFE.

I AM AN AMERICAN AIRMAN:
WINGMAN, LEADER, WARRIOR.
I WILL NEVER LEAVE AN AIRMAN BEHIND,
I WILL NEVER FALTER,
AND I WILL NOT FAIL.

This is the symbol for Security Forces in the Air Force that I believe Joseph will enlist for but we are going to try out for SERE=Survival Evasion Resistance Escape and hopefully make it into that career field. It is where you are an instructor for Airman on Survival skills. Security Forces he might get into the K9 unit (if SERE doesn't work out)The K9 unit are bomb and drug dogs that are amazing to work with. So those are the fields we are looking into and we will know more when we are offically enlisted.

Muscular Dystrophy Association

Today all the Fire Dept. volunteers did the "fill the boot" fundraiser for children with Muscular Dystrophy. So me and Gideon and Bridger headed out to be one of those people holding a boot for people to put money into. We were dancing a long the street and smiling at a lot of people. It was a lot of fun and the boys did really good. I had Bridger on my back for most of the day...Yes I am sore tonight and Gideon spent most of his time right next to me playing in the construction piles of dirt and rocks along the road. :) They made a lot of money and people were very generous.
Then they had the huckleberry festival's parade that goes through the town of Donnelly, Yes it is a short parade but fun enough to enjoy. Bridger mommy and Gideon all got to ride in a fire truck and throw candy and wave at people. I got the party going with the loud speaker....Yeah that was fun. A guy I work with , Jason, I think he was embarrassed. Oh well. It was a good time :) I really enjoy the volunteers at the fire dept. Very down to earth and good nice people. Some would say a little rough, I would just say they are fun to be around.
Joseph worked down in new meadows finishing up a job that took about a month to do because of weather and equipment breaking. He is really glad to be done there.
Well Our transmission went out in our truck so we just got it re-built with a heavy duty trany in it. I hope it is a lot better than it was. I hope we can pick it up soon too.
I have had to use Dan and Lisa's car a lot lately, (My in laws) and Dad Jones I think I know why your sciatic nerve got so bad there for a while. I think it is your car. Ever since I have started driving it around my leg has killed me from my low back all the way down to my knee and then it makes me almost collapse coming out of the car but as soon as I walk it off I am fine and it only hurts when I am in your car. Just a thought. So I am really looking forward to having the truck back but grateful that I have had a car to use for the past short while.
It hasn't been the warmest August that I remember. It has been pretty chilly around here lately. I went huckleberry picking this week and got about 8 cups of berries. Yum Yum!!
Our friends have officially moved but I took their family pictures by their place before they left, It was with my video camera so not the best resolution but hey it works :) Scott and Eva and their kids, Anniston and Luke.

Books to read this Fall

Hey everyone,
I am making a list of Books I want to read this Fall/winter. I am not a big reader but would like to become more of one. Thus Far:

CS Lewis; Chronicles of Narnia
Harry Potter Series
works of Jane Austen..Which ones are the best to read?

Yeah...not much of a list yet. But I love good stories that are well written and pretty fast reads. So far I have enjoyed the kind of Fantastical books. But I like books with relationships between people or Mysteries or whatever. If you have suggestions let me know. Thanks!~

What's up

Well still nothing from the Air Force. We are living Life the best we can right now. Joseph has been working hard breaking and fixing things :) He has been doing Hay jobs and staying pretty busy with that. Our good friends the Ewings are moving and we are sad to see them go. But we wish them luck on going back to school.
We got a Family membership to an athletic club in McCall for a really good deal so when Joseph has a spare few hours we go swim. We got the good deal because Joseph is "training" for the military. It's amazing what good deals you can find out there if you just ask. It is a salt water lap pool and really nice. It feels so good to swim laps again. I am coaching Joseph on his swimming skills and He is getting better. Gideon loves the pool. We put arm floaty's on him and he can make two laps without stopping and any help. I tred water right in front of him and he follows me. He catches up to you really fast. He is really getting the doggy paddling down. :) Bridger is our little risk taker. The first time at the pool I had him sitting in his turtle in the pool and he did fine and was content and this last time I put the arm floaty's on him and held him and helped him swim. he won't go back to his turtle now. he likes being in the water. We were having him jump to our arms from the side of the pool and he LOVES this but did it when Joseph was not expecting it and he went all the way in. Joseph immediately pulled him out and he was fine and wanting to go back in. I can tell he is going to keep us running and on our toes :) So that is our life light in our lives right now and very much needed. Joseph has even gotten out of bed early in the morning to go swim laps. I am proud of him.
We expect to Hear from the Air Force hopefully by Monday (cross your Fingers)It will be nice to move forward with a plan. It is always kinda crazy when you have no idea what you are going to do but it is a growing experience and a strengthening tool for our relationship.
I hope those of you seeking answers right now will get them and that you all are doing well.

Some more every day Life

Here's our chickens with 4 chicks who have gotten fairly big now.

I moved into the guest bedroom so the guest suite can be the master and my getaway for my everyday "peace therapy" ;). It is such a beautiful room that I wanted a nice room where there was no kids toys, papers, laundry, and messes. I like the change. The fly's are so bad up here right now. Every time you open the door it is like a hundred come in. In the morning you walk outside and the ground is just buzzing with fly's "yuck" I haven't done my thorough berry picking yet so hopefully I will soon.

Berries Yum.....and berries..not so yum

I went back to where my family went huckleberry picking and my husband and I got these with in 35 minutes. There are thousands of berries in this "secret" spot. I am going all week if anyone wants to join me. In the mornings or evenings. They are so yummy. This is the best spot I have seen so far.
Not this week but next week or after I am hoping to go down to riggins for a day trip and pick blackberries. Anyone want to come. I think I have Lindsay Nelson recruited. We would leave Early in the morning pick all day and then go swimming in the salmon river. We are going to try doing it when we don't have to have the kids with us so we can pick a lot but if you want to come your more than welcome to bring the kids.

Here is a bear scat back by our lake full of berries....Not so yum :)

The Jones Round Up

I hope each of you are having a good week! Love all of ya~ Camille
