My Word for 2012

SHINE

Shine

To emit light

To Glow or be bright

To direct light

Cause to gleam

To be conspicuously competent

To appear clearly

The state or quality of shining; sheen; luster

 Rain or shine; whatever the weather, regardless of circumstance

I am excited to start a new year out with a word that helps me to achieve my goals from the root of where they start.  That I am a Daughter of God and coming to understand that will help me become the woman I long to become.  With His help all things are possible. 

Arise and Shine Forth, That thy light may be a standard for the nations  D&C 115:5

My goal To Shine is to get to know the light with in me (which is the light of Christ) and be a light to my family, and to those I come in contact with through Jesus Christ.  I want to teach my children by precept as well as example.  I want them to know that I have a testimony of Christ and that I strive everyday to come to know Him better and put my trust in Him. 

 My sorrows and heartache can become no more, my sins can become white as snow, that I have a divine nature and a work to do on this earth and that I can become someone of worth in this life and in the next.  I want to be good but I don't want to just settle for good anymore.  I want to be better even become my BEST self.  So I need to learn to Shine with His light.  I truly believe when I come to understand that, Satan will have no power over me to help me think I am less than others, to think I am not enough...No he will be cast out of my life through my choice to live up to my potential.  I have hope in that :)   I am excited to Start this journey and to make 2012 the best I can make it.  Yes I will still have trials to overcome but I will deal with them as they come and with Help...The lord's help.

In this scripture in Matthew 5:14-16

'Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your father which is in Heaven.'

There are so many in the world who have never been taught about Christ or how to Keep a marriage sacred and strong, how to keep yourself Clean and so I feel I need to be who I am am and not waver and be an example of that goodness to those around me.

Elder Holland gave a Talk  on that and helped me realize who I am and what I should do.

  

I really enjoyed the talk Living The Abundant Life by President Monson.  He had ABC's that can help us...

A is for Attitude- We can’t direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails. For maximum happiness, peace, and contentment, may we choose a positive attitude.

B is for Believe—in yourself, in those around you, and in eternal principles

C is Courage- Courage is required to make an initial thrust toward one’s coveted goal, but even greater courage is called for when one stumbles and must make a second effort to achieve.

I love the idea of something that I will base my goals around for the new year.  I hope I can share my light with those around me but more than that, I want to get to know my Father in Heaven and his son Jesus Christ better so that I can see  myself better through His eyes.

I hope we can ALL come to know our True potentials and know we are daughters and sons of God.
