the road going up.....and I thought Zion National park had switch backs.... Hah that was nothing compared to these.

At the Alpine Hotel

My baby girl in the Alps

WOW!!  We went down that and then back up the other side in the distance to Furka pass and the Galcier

View of Furka pass, Belvedere and Rhone glacier in distance
when we were coming up Grimsel pass you could see where they had carved the snow out to free the road and you looked up and saw about a 20 foot bank of snow.  It was crazy.  Wish I got a picture of it!

View down to Oberwald from Planggerli

Beautiful girl with a beautiful view

The switch backs going down

Looking up towards Belvedere where we stopped to see the Rhone Galcier

Top of Furka Pass

about 8,000 feet above sea level

A view from Google maps of the glacier and pass
A view of the bottom of the glacier where the ice cave was

Amazing!

It was about 70 degrees up there it was nice and warm!

And Bright with the sun bouncing off the snow

But inside the ice cave it felt like a freezer Bbbbrrrrrr!
entering the ice cave

Clint at the entrance
It was kind of un-nerving because it was dripping water a lot at the entrance and you felt a little scared walking into a ice cave that was part of alive and moving glacier.

It was so blue in there and you could see through the ice a couple of feet and saw layers and air bubbles.  It was so beautiful!

an Australian couple we met along the way

The boys played in this little water stream for a while.  We had a good lesson about how water moves obstacles.  We would stick a rock in and it would push it all the way to the end.  They were so entertained.....I need one of these in my yard!

Trail markers along the rock face

looking down into the valley towards the town Gletsch

Headed back down

There was a crystal cave and water power plant in the mountain and this water came out of the mountain from it.  It was really cool looking!

I loved being here and wish I had time and money to explore every valley and mountain peak in this area.  They were all so Beautiful!!

I don't blame you for putting 60 pictures in that post, because they are gorgeous! I bet the mountain air up there was crisp and cool. And that ice cave was so pretty. My kids would have loved that
