Well April 6th is a pretty special day because it is Bridger's Birthday but what made it even better is.....
We got ready to go out and do chores
(I Love that she loves to get ready and go and i love the outfit!)
And look what we found!!!
I was yelling in the car "We have a foal! We have a foal!" Bridger then let me know that at first he thought I had run over a bunny rabbit...I guess I was a little excited! :)
PS: there are a lot of bunny rabbits running around out here~
She is so Beautiful!!
So yesterday our horse Haidas was waxing quite a bit. It is where her udder has beeded up wax looking colostrum. They usually do this hours before foaling from what I read and I told Joseph she looks pretty close and lo and behold we come out this morning and thank goodness, everything went well because we weren't around (hauling 3 kids middle of night by myself to check on horse....umm no) mamma and baby are doing really well.
She's a dark one. I wonder if she will stay that way or lighten up any. So cute!
So when I first got there I cautiously went in and Haidas let me right up to her and I patted her down and I even rubbed the foal down all over and checked and saw she was a girl and as soon as the foal was up and going Haidas' instinct to be protective kicked in and there was no more getting near her or the baby.
So I had to clean around them and fill up the water trough but I was able to maneuver around without too much harm. Later on this afternoon while I was mucking out her stall I got a little close and she gave me her rear and ears back so I quickly side stepped out of the way and ever since then I have had a hard time moving. The 8 month pregnant body doesn't move to fast and then Arya fell down the cement steps this evening and went out there fast to pick her up and ever since then I have been hardly able to walk and can't bend over. Hopefully tomorrow will be better or even tonight while I sleep... Hopefully.
Haidas is such a good mommy!
Joseph is at work so it will be nice when he comes home tomorrow evening so he can see our new foal. We will have to come up with a good name.
We want to stick with blood line names So her daddy's name is PG Dry Fire and Mamma's name is Haidas Smart Chic So it will be fun putting something together to represent them both.
One of our ideas is PG Smart Fire but i don't know... We will see.
The foal filled up on Mamma's milk and decided to take an afternoon nap
I showed Gideon the placenta and amniotic sack that I cleaned up out of the pen. It looked fairly small like a cord and then I grabbed it and it was like 3 feet wide. He was really impressed and I explained how things work and I think it opened his eyes to the true miracle of Birth.
During the second session of General conference today the kiddos played with legos. It was so nice listening to all the messages. I so look forward going back through and studying each one and see what more I can learn from them. I have a real desire to read the Book of Mormon all the way through fairly fast recently too. I just feel I can get so much out of it and want to read it cover to cover but in a short amount of time. Anyone want to join me?
It has been a great day. Sure feel blessed!
